CLEAR WRITING

Registration opens Wednesday, April 1 at 7:00 PM!

Facilitated by: Jan Gourley (she/her), RECE (with background support from Sara Gill (she/her) - Executive Director, Adult Basic Education Association)

Do you:

  • Send emails to families and community partners on behalf of your program?

  • Use written materials to advertise your services?

  • Communicate with other professionals in writing?

  • Create newsletters, calendars, brochures, applications or websites?

  • Want your information to be understood by as many people as possible?

If you answered “yes!” to any of these questions, then Professional Learning in Clear Writing is for you!  This session will help you create effective written materials by exploring:

  • How to make your messages clear by choosing the right words

  • How to use graphics and layout to make your written materials easier to read

  • How to design written materials for people with low literacy, people whose first language isn’t English and people who are busy!

By the end of the workshop, you will have several new ideas on how to communicate successfully through written material.

Pedagogical Focuses: Expression - Leadership - Networking

Standards of Practice: Standard IV:  Professionalism and Leadership
