LET’S MAKE A SENSORY GARDEN (MIDDLESEX)

  • The Campus Play Studio 29 Kilworth Park Drive Komoka, ON, N0L 1R0 Canada (map)

Facilitated by: Cara Caudle MEd, BASc, RECE

Let's come together and talk about the benefits of sensory enriched early childhood programs while making our own custom sensory gardens. Participants will get their hands in the dirt and plant seeds that they will continue to watch grow in the weeks and months ahead!

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe sensory gardens and how they can support child development

  2. List the eight sensory areas focused on in early childhood education

  3. Design a sensory garden in response to children's sensory needs and preferences

Participants will get their hands dirty potting and planting a small sensory garden to take with them back to their program. While getting creative, we will learn about various plants, their sensory characteristics, relationships within the natural world to pollinators and growing conditions, and more!
