TRANS 101

  • Reimagine Co 206 Piccadilly Street London, ON, N6A 1S1 Canada (map)

Registration opens December 1 at 7 PM

Facilitated by: Stevie Bees (they/he)

We are thrilled to present a special workshop led by local London activist, Stevie Bees, founder of Stevie's Safe Spaces. Stevie is dedicated to creating inclusive and safe environments for everybody, and their work has made a significant impact both locally and across the world.

Join us for an engaging Trans 101 workshop where Stevie will provide an introduction to transgender identities, covering essential terms, types of transitions, and how to be a better ally. This conversational session will also include an open Q&A period, allowing participants to ask respectful questions in a safe and supportive space. Join in for an important and empowering discussion, and leave with the tools to help foster safer, more inclusive spaces for all.

Pedagogical Focuses: Belonging - Expression - Well-being

Standards of Practice: Standard I: Caring and Responsive Relationships, Standard II:  Curriculum and Pedagogy, Standard III:  Safety, Health and Well-Being in the Learning Environment

Stevie Bees (they/he) is an active community member, artist, author, queer/trans activist and a gender doula. They see clients in the community to support them with social, legal and medical transition.

Stevie also sends tshirts with trans activism to celebrities and influencers to make the messages more visible and in January of this year, purchased ad space on their local city buses that read “Protect Trans Kids”.

They have gone viral a few times and most notably worn by David Tennant on Instagram.

Stevie is the president of their own not for profit called Fairy Godparents-London and founded the Greyson Jones Memorial Scholarship for transgender and gender nonconforming youth attending post secondary school in Ontario.

Stevie is passionate about equity for transgender people and all marginalized communities especially with regards to reproductive justice.

When they are not busy with their advocacy work, Stevie can be found doing art or spending time with their two kiddos and husband.
