Description:
Good Beginnings is a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors comprised of parents/guardians and community representatives, who are committed to providing high quality early learning and child care programs to the children and families of Oxford County since 1986. It is our mission to be a leader in the provision of quality child care programs, which are affordable and accessible to families in Woodstock and the surrounding communities, delivered by professional and caring Educators.
The Before and After School Program Educator, oversees child care programming for before school hours (approx. 6:45am – 9:00am), and for after school hours (approx. 2:45pm – 6:00pm). The successful candidate will provide care for children (3.8 years to 12 years of age) in a group setting under the direction of Good Beginnings. They will follow the Program Statement, Confidentiality Agreement, policies established by the Board of Directors, and regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Required Shift Schedules: September to June: approx. 6:45-9:00am AND approx. 2:45-6:00pm, split shift hours for the school year, this averages 25 hours per week for the split shift schedule. Non-instructional Days (PA Days, Winter Break, March Break, and Summer Care), the hours will average 25-35 hours per week. This is a permanent position with consistent hours throughout the year, including summer.
Requirements:
We are seeking to fill multiple Before and After School Age positions with reliable, friendly, and engaged individuals. Prior to
starting the position, the successful candidates will be required to comply with all applicable licensing requirements:
Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Worker, Recreation and Leisure, Educational Support Worker, Elementary Education-Primary division, Educational Assistant, Social Service Worker or Developmental Service Worker
A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (if applicable)
Standard First Aid, including Infant and Child CPR Certificate (Level C)
Current Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, acceptable to Good Beginnings
Up-to-date Immunization Records required by the Ministry of Education and Southwestern Public Health
Safe Food Handling Certificate
Previous experience working within a child care or school age environment is required, with preference on experience working in a licensed child care environment
Ability to work at various before/after school locations throughout Woodstock and Ingersoll
Plan and implement activities based on the children’s needs and interests
Excellent communication skills - written, oral, listening and non-verbal
Works as a co-operative and respectful member of the teamAdhere to all licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
Adhere to all policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors of Good Beginnings
Ability to work split shifts September to June, 6:45-9:00am & 2:45-6:00pm, and availability for non-instructional hours
Must have reliable and flexible transportation to arrive on time for scheduled shifts, including those that may begin before public transit is available
