Description:

Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) are responsible for providing quality early education from infancy to age four. Educators will deliver a play based, living curriculum in a safe, comfortable homelike environment. The position reports to the Program Supervisor and/or the Director, and maintains positive, respectful working relationships with all centre staff and community partners. Placement of employees can be in various aged programs, which are licensed through the Ministry of Education and therefore subject to the rules and regulations as stipulated in the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement inclusive learning experiences aligned with the MZELC curriculum and children’s development

  • Maintain accurate daily records, journals, and weekly documentation

  • Communicate professionally with families and community partners

  • Maintain clean, organized, and child-ready indoor and outdoor learning environments

  • Consistently implement the MZELC Program Statement

  • Use age-appropriate coaching and guidance in all interactions with children.

  • Follow MZELC policies and procedures, the Child Care and Early Years Act, and all health, safety, child protection, public health, and fire requirements

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging social and learning environment

  • Participate in and supervise daily indoor and outdoor activities

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent- qualifications from an accredited college or university, combined with a minimum of 1 year of related experience within a childcare environment.

  • Current member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) in good standing

  • Post secondary education, in addition to the Early Childhood Education designation, is considered an asset

  • Valid Standard First Aid certification including infant and child CPR issued by a training agency recognized by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board

  • Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers

  • Excellent communication skills using English language, both written and verbal. Secondary language is considered an asset
